Abstract: This checklist is being developed as a foundation for building floristic resources for Chitral, Pakistan. It currently draws on three data sources: Ullah, H. and L. Bagshad (2023) Nutritional and mineral analysis of the ultimate wild food plants of Lotkuh, Chitral, the Eastern Hindukush Pakistan. Heliyon 9 (2023) e14449; OpenHerbarium (accessed April 21, 2023, and GBIF.org (20 April 2023) GBIF Occurrence Download https://doi.org/10.15468/dl.kczqyx. Voucher specimens from Ullah and Bagshad are in PUP. They have not been digitized. Almost all Chitral records from OpenHerbarium are based on specimens in Pakistani herbaria, but a few are based on images and citations in the Flora of Pakistan. The download from GBIF was not restricted with respect to the basis of the records. It included, in addition to specimen records, Genebank acessions, image and gene-based records, and checklists with developed from specimens in many different herbaria. Names were harmonized using Plants of the World Online between April 20 and April 25.
The checklist includes species from both Lower Chitral and Upper Chitral because the only freely accessible geographic file available the time of writing was for the original district. It was divided into two districts in 2018.
