Plantsherbs or shrubs, black punctate. Leaves usually with 1-3 leaflets, rarely odd-pinnate. Calyces campanulate, subequally 5-lobed, lowest lobe slightly longer than the others; corollas glabrous, bluish, soon falling. Pods small, erect, ovoid, indehiscent, 1-seeded, conspicuously black glandular-warty.
Cullen includes about 35 species. It is native from dry regions in Africa through India to Australia. There is one species in Somaliland, Cullen plicata, and another in Somalia, Cullen corylifolia.
