Plants usually climbing or trailing perennial herbs, less frequently erect subshrubs. Leaves pinnately or subdigitately compound, with 3 leaflets.Inflorescences axially psediracemes or clusters. Calyces 4-5-lobed. Banner petals glabrous or with a few hairs near the middle; anthers 5 normal anthers, sometimes alernating with 5 smaller sterile anthers. Pods linear, with about 8 seeds, the styles thickend, tips forming a right-angled hook.
Teramnus is a genus of 8 species and is native to the tropics of Africa, Asia, and the Americas. There are two species in Somaliland and Somalia.
