Plants shrubs of small trees. Leaves opposite, usually odd-pinnate, Inflorescences terminal racemes or panicles. Calyces tubular-campanulate, oblique, 5-lobed; corollas funnel-shaped, 4-5-lobed, sometimes 2-lipped; stamens 4, 2 long and 2 short, included or exserted, 1 staminode present; anthers apically attached,, divergent; discs present, ring-shaped; ovaries superior, 2-celled. seeds oblong, surrounded by a wing.
Tecoma includes about 14 species. Most are native to tropical America.
