Plants branched shrubs or sub-shrubs. Leaves alternate; stipules soon falling; blades entire-serrate. Flowers yellow, axillary, solitary or small racemes, dimorphic, some flowers with long styles, other with short styles- and short styled flowers; sepals 5, imbricate, entire; petals 5, contorted, quickly falling; nectar glands 2-3; stamens 5, alternating with 5 staminodes; filaments connate at the base; carpels 3-4; styles 3-4. Capsules globose, 6-8-locular, with1 seed per locule.
Reinwardtia includes 3 species, but only one, Reinwardtia indica, grows in Pakistan. It was called Reinwardtia trigyna in the Flora of Pakistan.
