Plants shrubs or trees; latex white. Leaves alternate, at tips of branches. Inflorescences in terminal cymes. Flowers sweetly scented; corollas funnel-shaped to salverform.; lobes overlapping to the left in bud; coronas absent; stamens included; ovaries half inferior, 2-celled, with numerous ovules. Follicles 2; seeds many, winged, without tufts of hair.
Plumeria is a genus of about 19 species. One species, Plumeria rubra, is cultivated, at least in Somala.
