Plants trees or shrubs, unarmed. Leaves evenly bipinnate. Inflorescences round heads. Flowers radially symmetric, bisexual; calyx 5-lobed; corolla of 5 separate petals; stamens 10, anthers without glands at the tip. Pods oblong or linear-oblong, flattened, splitting into two flat valves.
Leucaena is a tropical American genus of about 50 species. One species, Leucaena leucocephala, is widely cultivated, including in both Somaliland and Somalia. It has, however, a tendency to become invasive.
