There are 17 species of Cauraina native to Australia, southeast Asia, and the islands of the Pacific. Several are widely cultivated and relatively fast growing tres.
One species is present in Somaliland and Somalia, Casuarina equisetifolia. According to Wikipedia, "Casuarina equisetifolia leaf litter suppresses germination of understory plants using a biochemical means or allelopathy. This is one reason it can be such a damaging invasive species in places outside its native range." Using it for firewook sounds like a good idea, but be ready with a young plant of a native species that can grow in the smae habitat.
