Plants forming small or large groups. Leaves about 24, 30-35 cm long, 8-10 cm wide, in dense rosettes, lanceolate-attenuate, ascending-spreading, rigid, bluish grey with red tinge; margins entiere or with a few very short teeth near the base. Inflorescences to 50 cm tall, with 3-6 spreading branches; branches 20-25 cm long, flowers widely spaced, giving a cylindric outline; bracts about 6 mm long, 3 mm wide; pedicels 10-14 mm long. Flowers scarlet, glabrous, nutant; perianths 26-30 mm long, 8 mm wide across the ovary, outer tepals free for about 10 mm; anthers exserted 2-3 mm; ovary abour 6 mm long, 3 mm wide; stigma exserted 3-4 mm.
Aloe breviscapa grows ion in semi-desert habitats on gypsum at an elevation of about 1400 m. It is know ony from region N2 of the Flora of Somalia.
