Plants shrubs, 0.3-2 m tall; stems appressed pubescent with stiff hairs. Leaves leathery, elliptic to narrowly obovate, 15-80 mm long, 4-30 mm wide, margins spinose or stiffly hairy, tips sith a stiff point. both surfaces appressed pubescent. Heads with 4-18 flowers; bracts 8-17 mm long, 3-6 mm wide, with spinose to ciliate marbins and mucronate tips. Calyces 113-20 mm long, ribbed; corollas bright blue, tubes 18-28 mm long lobes 6-10 mm lone, 5-8 mm across. Seeds 6-7 mm long.
Ceratostigma abyssinicumgrows in evergreen bushland and the underowth of Juniperus forests on rocky outcrops at 1000-2100 m. I tis know from regions N1 and N2 of the Flora of Somalia and from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya.
