Plants shrubs or subshrubs. Leaves entire or crenate-dentate with truncate tips. Inflorescences of solitary flowers or flower clusterd at the upper nodes, subtended by leaf-like bracts and bracteoles. Calyces 4-lobed, uper and lower nodes relatively wide, lower lobes 2-fid, lateral lobes small, linear; corollas more or less 2-lipped; stamens 4; anthers 2-celled. Capsules with 2-seeds; seeds flat,orbicular, with mucilaginous hairs especially along the margins.
Duosperma includes about 12 species. The grow in tropical and southern African and in Yemen.
