Plants shrubs ir perennial herbs. Leaves alternate, sometimes fleshy. Inflorescences terminal, of solitary capitula or a few together. Capitula radiate or disciform to discoid; ray flowers (when present) sterile; disk flowers bisexual, with 5-lobed corollas; anthers with short tails. Achenes hairy, 10-ribbed; pappuses of brisles or mixed bristles and scales.
Iphiona includes 11 spcies that arenative in northern Africa and southern Asia.
