Plants shrubs or subshrubs. Leaves alternate, usually pinnatifid. Inflorescences terminal, of solitary capitula, or sessile clusters or 2-3 capitula, corymbose clusters several capitula, or otherwise clustered. Capitula discoid; phyllaries in 3-5 series; receptacles without bracts. Flowers tubular-campanulate, 5-lobed. Pappuses usually of a single, scarious scale.
Pentzia is a genus of 25-31 species. Most are native to southern Africa, but two are North African, one is native to both Somaliand and Somalia, and a fourth to Yemen. The species found in Somaliland and Somalia is Pentzia somalensis.
