Plants twining or trailing herbs, erect shrubs, or small trees. Leaves pinnately compound, wtih 3 leaflets; leaflets with yellowish glandular dots on their lower surfaces. Inflorescences axillary, racemes; bracts ovate to cup-shaped; bracteoles absent. Calyces scarious, continuing to grow after anthesis; lobes obtuse, the lowermost the largest, boat-shaped; stamens 10, the uppermost free; ovaries with 2 ovules; styles filiform; stigmas small. Pods short, compressed, enclosed in the mature calyces, 1-2-keeled; seeds with rounded to shortly elongate hila.
