Plants scandent, prostrate shrubs, or subshrubs 0.5-3 m tall; young stems densely pilose; old stems sometimes with corky ridges. Leaves 2.5-6 cm long, alternate or the upper leaves opposite, stipulate; stipules linear, 5-7 mm long; leaflets 2-5 pairs, obliquely elliptic-pblong or ovate-oblong, 8-20 mm long, 4-10 mm wide, densely pubescent with appressed hairs. Pedicels 12-40 mm long; sepals lanceolate-acuminate, 15-19 mm long, pilose with more or less spreading hairs; petals bright red, 25-35 mm long; stamens with filaments 6-10 mm long; ovaries pilose, the hairs 1.5-2 mm long; styles 10-20 mm long' stigmas capitate. Fruits sparsely pilose; mericarps about 10 mm long, with a somewhat reticulate wrinkled surface but without long horns.
Kelleronia gillettiae grows in acacia Commiphora bushland on soil or in rocky places at 30-200 m elevation. It is known from regions N1 and c1-2 of the Flora of Somalia and from eastern Ethiopia.
