Plants erect glandular pubescent herbs up to 50 cm tall. Leaves opposite or subopposite; lower leaves small, scale-like; upper leaves lanceolate-oblong, up to 5 cm long, lower surfaces scabrous over the midribs, margins entire, scabrous. Inflorescences of solitary flowers in axils of upper leaves; pedicels 7-20 mm long. Calyces 9-20 mm long; calyx lobes unequal; corollas more or less pink; corollatubes 20-30 mm long; corolla limbs up to 25 mm in diameter, the lobes spreading.
Harveya obtusifolia should be sought for in bushaland and woodland at about 1800 m. It is known from region N1 of the Flora of Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and eastern Africa south to Malawi and in Madagascar and Yemen.
