Plant ascending annuals or short-lived perennials withmore or less prostrate basal parts; nodes and leaf-margins with long multicellular hairs, at least when young. Leaves broadly ovate to subcirculate, 1.5-6 cm long, 0.8-5 cm wide, glabrous except for margins and veins on the lower surface. bases subcordate to broadly cuneate, tips acute to rounded. All bracts very small, ultimate units of the inflorescnces a pedunculate, 2-7(-11) flowered umbel; pedicels 01- mm long. perianthlimbs 0.5-1.2 mm, purplish-red; stamens 1-3, slightly exserted; anthocarps club-shaped, 3-3.5 mm long, sharply 5-sided, glandular pubescent, with rounded tips.
Boerhavia diffusa grows as a weed in gardens an on distrubed groun at 30-50 m elevation in region. It is known from region S2 of the Flora of Somalia but is also pantropical.
