Plants usually perennial, sometimes annual; stems up to 45 cm long. Leaflets 2, those of upper leaves ovate-lanceolate, up to 25 mm long and 13 mm wide, apiculate, those of lower leaves smaller, ovate or suborbicular. Flowers about as long as the bracts; calyces about 3.5 mm long;corollas yellow, sometimes with red veins, banner petals up to 8 mm long. Pods up to 16 mm long, with 4(-4) seeds; segments about 3 mm long and 2.5 mm wide, bristles stiff, about 1.5 mm long, glochidiate, and retrorsely hispid.
Zornia apiculata grows in graslland, bushland, and dunes at 20-1200 m. It isknow from regions N and S1-3 of the Flora of Somalia as well as Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania.
