Plants shrubs or small trees, deciduous; bark smooth, grey to brown; young branchlets mostly glabrous. Leaf and pinnae axes terminating in a short deflexed hook or claw; pinnae 1-3(-4) pairs; leaflets 1-4(-5) pairs, obliquely obovate to suborbicular, (7-)10-36(-42) mm long, (4-)6-31 mm wide, glabrous to sparsely pubescent with short hairs, reticulately veined, mucronate. Inflorescences usually on leafless twigs, pale greenish. Flowers pedicellate; pedicels 0.5-5.5 mm long; calyces 3-5 mm long, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, irregularly denticulate; corollas 6-12 mm long, glabrous or puberulent on the lobae-margins; staminal tubes not or scarcely exserted beyong th the corollas; filaments 1.5-2 mm long, white. Pods oblong, 7-18 cm long, 1.5-2.9 cm wide, usually glabrous, occasionally puberulent, straw-colored; seeds 9-13 mm in diameter.
Albizia anthelmintica grows in bushland, woodland, and dry srub at 50-1260 m in regions N1, N3, C1, S1, and S3 of the Flora of Somalia and in Ethiopia, Sudan, and southwards to the Transvaal and Natal. A decoction of the roots or bark is used as a vermifuge and against gonorrhoea.
Albizia anthelmintica is usually a deciduous tree growing to 8m in height and having smooth, grey to brown bark and young twigs that are mostly glabrous.

In NOvember, 2021, the IUCN rated Albizia anthelmintica as "LC" meaning it is of least concern. Despite this Somaliland's pastoralists are concerned about its declining populations.
