Bulbs 12-20 cm in diameter, often with a distinct neck. Leaves broadly strap-shaped, up to 90 cm long and 8-10 cm wide at anthesis, spreading on the ground, without midribs, margins distinctly ciliate, most leaves without intact tips. Scapes 25-65 cm long, produced with the leaves; bracts greyish and papery, soon drooping. Flowers 10-20; pedicels 2-5 cm long; floral tubes red, curved, 8-12 cm long; perianth segments linear to narrowly lanceolate, 8-12 cm long, about 1.5 cm wide, forming a funnel, white with a red to purplish central band, fading to white or pink near the margins, outer parts reflexed during anthesis; filaments white to pink, shorter than the perianth segments; anthers yellow to light brown, about 5 mm long, curved; styles deep rose. Fruits vivid orange, subglobose, not beaked, with a thick pericarp; seeds 3-20, subglobose or somewhat flattened, light green, covered with a silvery grey, water repellent membrane, making them very smooth.
Crinum stuhlmannii extends from sandy coastal plains to low bushland about 200 km inland and up to 160 m high. It is known from regions C1-2 and S1-2 of the Flora of Somaliland. It extends in a broad belt along the coast to Mozambique.
