Plants shrubs, with unbranched hairs. Inflorescences raceme-like, open; bracts much smaller than and distinct from the leaves; racteoles 2, Calyces 2-lipped, becoming laterally compressed and closed after anthesis, splitting into 2 similar parts in fruit, the persistent ventral portions spoon-shaped, entire, rounded; corollas 2-lipped; upper lips 2-lobed, short and wide, almost flat; lower lips longer than the upper lips but short in relation to the tubes, 3-lobed, midlobes the largest stamens directed toward the dorsal side of the corolla tubes; lower style branches longer than upper. Nutlets obovoid-clavate, with a lateral areole covering 4/5 of the proximal side, tuberculate.
Renschia includes only one species, Renschia heterotypica. It is known only from Somaliland.
