Plants shrubs or small trees. Leaves subsessile, linear-lanceolate, 5-15 cm long, 0.5-1 cm wide. Calyx lobes about 8 mm long; corollas yellow, tubes 10-35 mm long, lobes obovate, about 30 mm long and 15 mm wide; stamens included. Drupes about 2 cm long and 3.5 cm wide; seeds 2(-4), about 1 cm long.
Cascabela thevetia is cultivated as an ornamental. The Flora of Somalia reports it for regions N3 and S2. It is also grown at several locations in Hargeisa, including the grounds of Candlelight and the Maansoor Hotel.
