An ornamental tree with spreading branches, bipinnate leaves with small leaflets, and racemes of showy, usually scarlet, rarely orange-red flowers and large pods.
Delonix regiais native to Madagascar but is widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world. The Flora of Somalia reports it as growing in regions N3 and S1-2 but states that it is "no doubt [present] elsewhere. It is now growing, as a cultivated ornamental, on the grounds of the Maansoor hotel, Hargeisa. It is a spectacular flower when in full bloom.
