Plants herbs or shrublets. Leaves simple. glandular. Inflorescences terminal, of 1-few pedunculate capitula. Capitula homogamous, discoid; receptacles honeycombed. Flowers yellow or purplish, lobes hairy; style branches more or less flattened, tips rounded or obtuse. Achenes with crustals; pappuses of barbeelate bristles, oten with an outer row of shorter bristles or scales.
Pegolettia includes 9-11 species. They are native from Africa through Arabia to India. One species, Pegolettia senegalensis, is known from both Somaliland and Somalia.
