Plants herbs or shrublets. Leaves alternate or subopposite. Inflorescences of solitary or aggregated capitula; capitula heterogamous, sessile or shortly pedunculate; phyllaries in 3-7 series; receptacles without bracts. Ray florets present and in 1 series, and 3-lobed or absent. Disc florets present, bisexual; anthers sagittate; style branches flattened, obtuse to subacute. Achenes pilose; pappuses of large scales in 2 series.
Geigeria is a genus of about 28 species. They are native to Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. One species, Geigeria alata, is present in both Somaliland and Somalia.
