Plants annuals, uo tp 40 cm tall, often prostrate and rooting from the noes. Leaves linear to narrowly lanceolate, velvety pubescent. Inflorescences with a central axis 2-8 cm long bearing 3-5 rames; rames 1-6 cm long. bearing spikelets in 1-2 rows on a 3-angled axis; spikelets not paired, narrowly elliptic, 4-5 mm long, pubescent, becomig pilose distally with the hairs forming a loose tuft on each side of the midwvin, caudate-acuminate, on stipes about 0.5 mm long; lower glumes 1/3-1/2 as long as the spikelets; upper lemmas papillose, subacute.
Brachiaria leucacrantha grows in open Commiphora bushalnd on red or orage sand at 150-200 m in regions C2, S2, and S3 of the Flora of Somalia.
