Plants shrubs or small trees up to 4(-8) tall. Petioles 1-4 mm long; blades 2-5.5 cm long, 0.7-1.7 cm wide. Scars of fallen sepals usually annular or slightly lobed. Seeds compressed globose, not easily rolling when dropped on a flat surface.
Dodonaea viscosa var. angustifolia grows on the edges of dry montane forests and in upland evergreen bushland and scrub, sometime extending into acacia-Commiphora bushland, at elevations of (900-)1400-1900 ,/ It is known from regions N1 and N2 of Somaliland, but not, at the time account in the Flora of Somalila was written, from any of the regions in Somalia although it is pantropical in its distribution.
