Plants stem succulents; stems 8-angled, up to 30 cm long or longer, 20 mm thick, rigid. Flowers almost sessile, closely appressed to the stems; corollas rotate, 7-11 mm wide, inside purplish-grey tp greenish-broan with numerous yellow spots and covered with minute, sharply pointed papillae, corolla tubes very shallow, corolla lobes ovate-triangular; coronas dark purple, often speckled with yellow, outer lobes lanceolate, channelled , inner lobes broadly triangular, incurved upon and covering anthers.
Echidnopsis dammanniana grows in Acacia-Commiphora bushland, Acaciawoodland, evergreen bushland or Juniperus forest, usually on limestone, at 1000-1900 m. It is known from regions of N1-3 of the Flora ofSomalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
