Plants much branched shrublets; young stems appressed silvery pubescent. Leaves digitately to pinnately compound with 3-5 leaflets; leaflets opposite, up to 12 mm long, both surfaces sparsely strigos. Inflorescences peduncalate; peduncles up to 6 mm long; branches with 2-4 flowers. Calyces 1.5-2 mm long, deeply divided; banner petals pubescent exteranlly; stamens 4-5 mm long. Pods 17-25 m long, 1.6-2 mm wide,slightly 4-angled, thinly strigose, with 6-12 seeds.
Indigofera suaveolens grows in Acacia-Commiphora bushland and semidesert grassland at 150-1080 n. It is known from regions N1-3, C1-2, and S1-2 and in Ethiopia, Sudan, and NIger.
