Plants much branched shrublet up to 50 cm tall. Leaflets 3(-7), oppostite, elliptic, cuneate-obovate or oblanceolate, up to 9 mm long and 4 mm wide. lower surfaces densely strigose, upper surfaces strigulose. Inflorescence axes 6-25(-40) cm long, ending in a glabrescent spine; branches numerous, with 2-4(-8) flowers. CAlyces 1.2-2.5 mm long, divided to the middle; banner petals pubescent externally; stamens (3.2-)5-6 mm long Pods straight, 15-20 mm long, about 1.8 mm wide, strigulose, with 6-9 seeds.
Indigofera soinosa grows in semidesert grassland, usually on stony ground at elevations up to 580 m. It is known from regions N1-3, C2, and S1 of the Flora of Somalia as well as in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya.
