Plants shrublets up to 50 cm tall; young stems completely covered by appressed, silvery hairs. Leaves digitate, with 3 or 1 leaflets; petioles 0-6 mm long; leaflets narrowly elliptic, 5-20 mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide, silvery strigos, acute. Racemes with 10-20 flowers; rachises 30-110 mm long, including peduncle of up to 10 mm, densely silvery strigose. Calyces 2-3 mm long, divided to below the middle; banner petals strigose externally, soon falling; stamens 4-5 mm long. Pods deflexed, straight or almost so, about 10-20 mm long and 1.5 mm wide, laterally flattened, markedly constricted between the seeds, silvery strigose, with about 3-5 seeds.
Indigofera sparteola grows in coastal grassland on sand at 10-310 m. It is known from regions N3, C1, and S2, not known elsewhere.
