Plants cushion-forming dwarf shrubs or subshrubs up to 30 cm tall. Leaves sessile; blades more or less obovate, 3-7 mm long, 1.5-4 mm wide, surfaces covered with appressed hairs about 1 mm long, bases cuneate, petiole-like. Inflorescences axillary. of solitary flowers. Flowers pale yellow to white; calyx lobes 1.2-3 mm long; corolla tubes 1.5-2.5 mm long with 4 thin thickenins 0.5 mm from the base inside, outsides pubescent on the upper portion; corolla lobes about 1.2 mm long, entire, outsides pubescent on upper portion; styles 2-3 mm long, glabrous or pubesent at least on the lower part; stigma lobes 0.25-0.5 mm long. Capsules 1-seeded, 2-3 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, septas 2-2.4 mm long, 0.6-1 mm wide, placentae about 0.4 mm long; seeds about 2 mm long.
Wellstedia somalensis grows in semi-desert and open bushland on stony or rocky limestone slopes at 200-1600 m in regions N2 and N3 of the Flora of Somalia. It is not know from elsewhere.
