Plants succulent herbs. Stems unbranched, 4-angled with acute, crenate angles, the sides of the angles slightly convex when turgid, otherwise with a longitudinal groove along their middle; latex clear. Leaves absent. Inflorescences numerous, with several flowers, on perennial, elongated peduncles that are close together, usually along the two sides of the stem that are facing the ground. Flowers developing successively; corolla campanulate with spreading lobes; corona gynostegial, outer lobes rising up to form a cage around the gynostegium, each lobe deeply divided into 2 divergent horns, inner corona stipiate, the lobes widening upwards and forming an oconical structure. Follicles fusiform, to 5 cm long and 2 cm wide, thick; seeds wit a tuft of hairs on the end.
There are two species of White-sloanea, one of which (White-sloanea crassa) grows in Somaliland and Puntland, Somalia. It is one of the rarest succulents in Africa.
