Plants prostrate, ascending, or erect, annual to perennial, herbs, to about 40 cm tall; stems dull, greyish green, usually more or less densely pubescent with hairs about 0.2 mm long and appressed to up to 2 mm long and spreading or sometimes subglabrous, rarely also with long glandular hairs about 0.5 mm long; old persistent stems whitish. Leaves petiolate; petioles up to 2-11 m long; blades lanceolate to broadly ovate, up to 13-35 mm long and 6-20 mm wide, bases shortly attenuate to truncate, tips obtuse to acute. Inflorescences of solitary flowers or occasionally a few together onpeduncles about 1 mm long; bracteoles leaf-like, up to 7-14 mm long and 3-10 mm wide on petioles up to 3-8 mm long. Calyx lobes narrowly triangular, often with thin, hyaline margins, 4-8 mm long and 0.8-1 mm wide at flowering, slightly enlarged in fruit, densely pubescent with spreading hairs 0.3-0.5 mm long; corollas usually blue, occasionally white, 16-32 mm long, tubes narrowly funnel-shaped, 10-16 mm, lobes free from each other for 4-8 mm; anthers 1-2.5 mm long, glabrous. Capsules 8-16 mm long, glabrous, with 8-12 seeds.
