Plants perennial climbers from fleshy tubers; latex white, Leaves opposite or clustered. Inflorescences terminal and axiallry. Sepals acicular, ovae, or triangular; corollas:tubes campanulate to shallowly campanulate, with exserted gynostegia, lobes oblong-ovate or obovate; corona lobes developed from the corolla mouths, basally widened and fused into a ring, filiform distally, 2-5-fid; stamens at base of corona lobes, filaments filiform, anthers ovate to ovae-hastate; pollen in pollinia; interstaminal nectaries distinct; stigmatic heads broadly ovoid; translators spathulate. Follicles paired, widely divergent, very narrowly ovoid; seeds with a tuft of hairs at one end.
Schlechterella is an eastern African genus of two species. Both grow in Somaliland and Somalia.
