The Somali Region Pastoral and Agro-pastoral Research Institute is located in the Somali Region [=Province] of Ethiopia. Its herbarium was established in 1995 to provide the comparative material that is essential for studies in taxonomy, ecology, anatomy, conservation biology, biodiversity and many others disciplines. In 2020, the Region's indigenous flora is known to include 58 families, 351 genera, and 1231 species. The focus of the SoR herbarium is regional, with collections being made to document the distribution and use of the indigenous flora and the occurrence and spread of introduced species.
